Department of Industrial Relations
The
Department of Industrial Relations (DIR) was established to improve working
conditions for California's wage earners, and
to advance opportunities for profitable employment in California.
The DIR has six main areas of responsibility which include Workers'
Compensation, Occupational Safety & Health, Labor Law, Apprenticeship,
Mediation and Conciliation and Statistics and Research. Each has their own
Division.

Division of Apprenticeship Standards
The
Division of Apprenticeship Standards (DAS) administers California Apprenticeship law and enforces
Apprenticeship Standards for wages, hours, working conditions and the specific
skills required for State Certification as a Journeyperson in an apprenticeable
occupation.
